Theme and process

“Magnetic” may be related to a concept-album: the lyrics tell the story of the same man going through different phases in his life all along the album, starting from adolescence naivety to elderly wisdom. Each song being a scene that deals with a specific situation, this common thread allowed the band to explore many different genres whilst keeping consistency.

The creative process was set up in the early days of the band: since the quatuor composes the whole music before adding lyrics, the story told in this record is the result of what their music inspired them. Concerning the lyrics, the same principle is applied for each song: telling a lot with few, in order to always encourage the listener to build its own interpretation. That's why no one is named and no specific situation or place is described.

In the end, this album mostly speaks about the human being and its contradictory interactions with groups. Dealing with mass effect, peer pressure or self-exclusion, the story told aims to shows how everyone's decisions or attitude depend on its environment, even trying to exclude itself from it. In the end, just like magnets, most of people are naturally attracted to external views which will influence their choices and self-esteem, and getting away from them can sometimes constitute a real struggle.
